🌿 Why So Many Women Feel Exhausted – And Why It Isn't Really About Energy

August 03, 20263 min read

Perhaps you know this feeling.

You're tired—not just physically, but deep inside. You feel exhausted, yet you keep going because life doesn't simply stop. Everything feels a little heavier than it used to, and sometimes you catch yourself wondering, What's wrong with me?

More often than not, the answer is: probably nothing.

I know this feeling well.

There was a time when I was already tired by lunchtime. After work, I had almost no energy left for myself. I'd sit on the sofa, scroll through my phone, or turn on the television—not because that's what I really wanted to do, but because I felt too drained to do anything else.

The things that would probably have made me feel better—going for a walk, reading a book, spending time outside, moving my body—felt like they required more energy than I had.

Weekends weren't much different. I finally had time. I could have gone to the lake or met a friend for coffee. Instead, I often stayed at home, unable to motivate myself to do much at all. And all the while, another voice inside me whispered, You really should be doing something.

It took me a long time to realise that this wasn't really an energy problem.

Most women who feel exhausted don't simply need more energy.

They've been carrying too much for too long.

They think about everything, take responsibility for everyone, and often carry burdens that were never theirs to begin with. Not just once in a while, but every single day.

Our body doesn't separate emotional pressure from physical tension. It holds both. Over time, that constant state of carrying too much can feel like heaviness, exhaustion, or the strange feeling that even rest never quite restores us.

Sometimes fatigue feels like emptiness.

But often it's the opposite.

It's the weight of everything we've been holding inside.

Too much tension.

Too much responsibility.

Too many thoughts that never truly settle.

Many women learned very early in life to be reliable, strong, and responsible. They learned to get things right, to help others, and often to do everything themselves because it felt easier than asking for help.

Those patterns can serve us for years.

Until one day our nervous system quietly says,

This is too much.

Not dramatically.

Not all at once.

But gently, through exhaustion.

At that point, many women begin searching for ways to become more productive. Better time management. Better routines. Another course. Another book. Another tool.

But perhaps the question isn't:

How can I get more energy?

Perhaps it's:

What am I carrying that I no longer need to carry?

You don't have to change everything today.

Simply begin by noticing.

Perhaps today you could pause for just a moment and ask yourself:

When do I notice myself saying, "I have to..."?

What am I holding that feels heavier than it needs to?

And perhaps, instead of immediately pushing on, you allow yourself one small pause.

🌿 A Gentle Tapping Practice

If you'd like, you can combine that pause with a few moments of gentle tapping. Tap on the side of your hand and allow yourself to really feel these words.

"Even though I'm frustrated that I'm so tired, and I wish I had the energy to spend this time differently, I choose to meet myself with kindness."

"Even though I'm too tired to do something for myself right now, I give my body permission to rest."

"Even though I've been carrying so much for so long, I allow some of that weight to soften, one gentle step at a time."

"And just for this moment, I give myself permission to simply be here... and to rest."

Perhaps that's where change begins.

Not by doing more.

But by carrying a little less.

By creating space for yourself.

That isn't giving up.

It's a different kind of strength.

Because lasting change rarely begins through more effort.

It begins when we start treating ourselves differently.

If these words resonate with you and you'd like to explore this more deeply, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you.

🌿 You don't have to carry it all on your own. 💛
