🌿 When the World Feels Uncertain – How to Stay Connected to Yourself

Have you been feeling as though there's just too much happening all at once?

So many women tell me the same thing.

"The world feels chaotic."

"I can't keep up anymore."

"I don't even know what's happening anymore."

Perhaps you've noticed something similar in yourself.

Your breathing becomes a little shallower. Your body feels tense. Your mind never quite settles.

Not because you're too sensitive.

But because your nervous system has been living in a state of constant alert for longer than it was ever designed to.

I know that feeling well.

There was a time when everything happening around me had a huge impact on how I felt inside. The news, conflict, injustice, uncertainty—but also my own mistakes. I questioned myself constantly. I pushed myself harder. My inner critic always had something to say, and real peace felt far away.

Today, I respond differently.

Instead of asking, "Why is all of this happening?" I find myself asking different questions.

Where am I creating pressure for myself right now?

Where am I holding on to something that's quietly draining my energy?

Where am I reacting automatically instead of responding with intention?

That small shift changes more than you might expect.

Inner calm doesn't come from the world becoming calm around us. It comes from learning to notice what's happening inside us—and discovering that we can stay present with it instead of being overwhelmed by it.

The more pressure we build inside ourselves, the narrower our thinking becomes. We lose perspective, make decisions from stress rather than clarity, and slowly become exhausted. When that inner pressure begins to soften, something else appears. We begin to notice more space, more clarity, and more freedom to choose how we want to respond.

If you notice that the outside world is affecting you deeply at the moment, perhaps you could give yourself a small pause today.

Sit somewhere comfortable. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your stomach. Simply notice what's there. Perhaps you feel tension, worry, fear, or restlessness.

You don't have to change any of it.

Simply noticing is enough.

Then, quietly remind yourself:

"Even though there's a lot happening around me, I am here."

"In this moment, I am safe."

"I don't have to understand everything."

"I don't have to solve everything."

"Right now, I can simply take one slow breath."

And then another.

Sometimes that's enough to help you find your next step.

Many of us grew up believing that we simply had to get through difficult times. We learned to endure, to stay strong, and to carry on no matter what.

But uncertain times ask something different of us.

Not more endurance.

More self-leadership.

Not carrying everything.

Not taking everything personally.

Not believing we have to solve every problem immediately.

Instead, they invite us to include ourselves in the way we move through life.

To honour our need for rest.

To listen to the quiet signals our body has been sending us.

And to soften the inner pressure before it becomes overwhelming.

🌿 Thriving doesn't begin when everything around you is finally resolved. It begins the moment you stop leaving yourself behind.

If the uncertainty around you has been leaving you feeling overwhelmed and you're longing for more calm and clarity, don't begin by analysing everything even more.

Begin by giving your nervous system a chance to breathe.

My free guided audio, Give Yourself 5 Minutes, combines gentle tapping and breathing to help your nervous system settle and find a little more calm—without adding another task to your day.

You don't have to carry all of this on your own. 💛
