🌿 Your Back May Be Carrying More Than You Realize

🌿 Your Back May Be Carrying More Than You Realize

Many of the women who come to me are living with physical pain. Sometimes it's back pain, sometimes tension in the shoulders or neck, and sometimes it's a deep exhaustion that doesn't disappear, no matter how much they sleep.

Over time, I've noticed that these symptoms often have something in common. They're rarely just about the body itself. More often, they're connected to the quiet pressures women have been carrying for years—the pressure to keep going, to take care of everyone else, to hold everything together, and to stay strong even when life already feels too heavy.

Our body has a remarkable way of speaking to us. Not to work against us, but to get our attention.

I often see back pain in women who carry a great deal of responsibility. Women who rarely say no, who naturally take care of others, and who struggle to give themselves permission to rest. They're so used to living in "I have to" mode that even self-care can become another task on the list. Exercise becomes something to push through. Rest feels unproductive. And yet, what the body often longs for isn't another achievement. It may simply be a quiet walk, a few moments of stillness, or the chance to breathe without feeling that something else needs to be done.

When we live under constant stress, our nervous system remains on alert. Our breathing becomes shallower, our muscles tighten, and even our thinking changes. Instead of feeling open and creative, we become focused on getting through the day. We rely on familiar habits because our system is trying to keep us safe, even when those habits are no longer serving us.

That's why my work isn't about fighting the body or trying to make symptoms disappear as quickly as possible. Instead, it's about creating a space where your nervous system can begin to settle and your body no longer has to work so hard to get your attention.

I use Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), body awareness, and gentle approaches such as Quantum-Touch to support that process. What often happens isn't dramatic. It's surprisingly quiet. The body begins to soften. The breath becomes a little deeper. The tension eases. Many women describe feeling more spacious inside themselves, calmer in their minds, and for the first time in a long while, they simply feel okay.

I believe many of us have learned to endure. We've learned to keep going, to stay strong, and to ignore the signals our body sends us because there always seemed to be something more important that needed our attention.

But perhaps thriving begins in a different place.

Perhaps it begins the moment we stop leaving ourselves behind.

The moment we give our body the space it has been asking for.

The moment we realise that we don't always have to do more.

Sometimes, we simply need permission to be.

If you've been feeling that your body has been carrying too much for too long, don't begin by asking yourself what else you should do. Begin by asking yourself what you might be able to carry a little less.

My free guided audio, Give Yourself 5 Minutes, combines gentle tapping and breathing to help your nervous system slow down and reconnect with a greater sense of calm. Sometimes, five quiet minutes are enough to remind your body that it doesn't have to stay on high alert.

🌿 Because thriving doesn't begin with trying harder. It begins the moment you give yourself permission to slow down. 💛
